We have all had to adjust to the new normal as coronavirus continues to take a toll on our daily lives. This has meant online classes and virtual gatherings, and for some, a withdrawal of their visa.
Currently all classes from Harvard and MIT are scheduled online, including ones for the upcoming autumn term. This conflicts with Trump’s announcement that US schooling should return to normal in the autumn term.
Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) made the decision to rule against foreign students who do not change to an institution with in-person tuition come September. Students could face deportation if they choose not to leave the country and are still enrolled into these universities.
Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology filed the lawsuit against ICE with Harvard’s President Lawrence Bacow saying “cruelty [is] surpassed only by its recklessness”.
