Snapshot: Nightingale Courts erected to cure justice

piled books on a shelf

The government has found a solution to reduce the insurmountable build-up of cases due to COVID-19. Recent data released by the Ministry of Justice shows that the Magistrates’ Courts face a backlog of 480,000 cases and crown courts at about 41,000. The temporary Nightingale Courts can be found in 10 locations around England and Wales and will operate under socially distanced measures to comply with the government’s guidelines. This is a welcomed decision as justice can continue on its way to deliver outcomes for victims and those being tried; following the backlog, this is only the start of tackling an exceptionally steep hill.
