Snapshot: Have you not heard? Renting clothes is so in

High-end department store Selfridges has recently introduced clothing rental in order address environmental and ethical concerns rife in the fashion industry. The store has established a 5-year sustainability plan to adapt to new ways of living and to hopefully change consumer mindset of owning single-use clothes which inevitably end up in landfills. The reduction in clothes produced as a result of the new strategy will help Selfridges meet its pledge to reduce its own emissions from stores by 2023; a necessary decision since the industry is responsible for 10% of annual global carbon emissions – more than international flights and maritime shipping combined. Fast fashion is slowly being shunned to the benefit of the environment and workers.
