Ocado faces court action over technology patents. Norwegian company AutoStore has filed a court order against Ocado, claiming that Ocado has copied its technology and infringed its patents. Alongside being an online supermarket, like Ocado, AutoStore is a developer of warehouse automation systems. These systems are used to process food packages and determine delivery dates. In its filing, AutoStore claims that Ocado’s Smart Platform (OSP) infringes several of their own patents. If proven, this could come at a significant blow for Ocado, who have been marketing OSP to several other food retailers around the world. OSP currently accounts for £20 billion of Ocado’s market value.
